WASHINGTON, DC, - The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls (RSG), through its founders, Kristina “Morgan” Rose and Deandra “Brooksie” Brooks, announce the start of “Project Cinderella” for the 2005 prom season.  “Project Cinderella” is a formal dress donation drive that will provide high school girls in need with a dress to wear to their schools’ prom.

“Brooksie and I strongly believe that formal dresses were meant to be worn, not relegated to closets,” said Morgan.  “So send your prom dress back to the prom by donating it to RSG’s formal dress drive.”

Arlington Public Schools asked the organization to spearhead “Project Cinderella” this year after Morgan and Brooksie led a successful drive for the 2004 prom season to benefit the Schools’ “Formals for Five” Campaign.  RSG enthusiastically agreed to make it an annual event – the first major philanthropic endeavor of The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls. During last year’s effort, RSG’s membership network collected 65 formal dresses for “Formals for Five.”  This bulk dress donation raised $170 for the Arlington County Schools’ In Support of Children Fund and made the dream of a $5 prom dress a reality for many of the young women who attended the event.

“I attended the ‘Formals for Five’ event last year, and it’s one of my best memories of 2004,” recounted Brooksie.  “Watching the high school students find the perfect dress was a Hallmark moment – their faces just lit up with smiles.”

Dresses will be collected through mid-May.  The organization requests that donated dresses be in good condition and dry-cleaned.  Gently used prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses and formal wear are all acceptable donations.  All donors will receive income tax receipts from the Arlington County School District.

“Clean out your closet and be a fairy godmother this prom season,” urged Morgan.

“By donating a dress you’ll make a young girl’s prom dreams come true and allow yourself to buy a fabulous new replacement dress guilt free,” advised Brooksie.
