Top Ten List

According to the Celebrate Texas website "it is not our goal to have one large party to celebrate Texas Independence Day, instead, we want all Texans to join the celebration."  And this is a cause we can not only get behind, but will actively support.

Start by bringing something that says "Texas" into your home.  But where do you start?  Texas is famous for so many things - the Dallas Cowboys, rodeos, the Austin music scene, its shopping, dining, and spirit.  As our friend and fellow recovering sorority girl, Savonne, a native Texan would say, "Texas, Texas, ye-haw!"  But we suggest a Texas Hold'Em Tournament as the central focus of your party because it's hip and will fit into most any party space.

Menu:

Offer your guests either traditional Texas barbecue, Tex-Mex, or a flavorful Texas chili.

Signature cocktail:  the Alamo Splash

Combine the following in a shaker with ice:
  • 1 1/2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz Orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 1 splash Lemon-lime soda
  • Be sure to have plenty of Lonestar and Shiner Bock beer on hand too.
