WASHINGTON, DC, November 14, 2006 – Authors Kristina
“Morgan” Rose and Deandra “Brooksie” Brooks – the
Recovering Sorority Girls - provide Cosmo’s readers with their best holiday entertaining time saving tips. Cosmo Weekend Living in the December issue contains the sage
advice of Morgan and Brooksie, authors of The Recovering
Sorority Girls’ Guide to a Year’s Worth of
Perfect Parties (Andrews McMeel, $14.95, April 2005).
"Cosmo challenged us to help dispel the myth that today’s modern woman doesn’t have time
to entertain during the holidays. With inspiration like our last minute cranberry and candle centerpiece, how can you not
feel the urge to be a holiday party hostess?” asked Rose.
Rose
and Brooks developed their unique home entertaining philosophy out of desperation. After
graduating from college, both women felt their social lives falling flat despite all the new reasons to party.
“Some
of our friends just didn’t know what they were doing,” explained Brooks.
“They were serving pizza at a Mardi Gras party with nary a bead in sight, and hosting birthday celebrations at
chain restaurants. We had to stop this madness.”
Resolving
to start the new year with a true celebration, Rose and Brooks co-hosted their first New Martini’s Eve party together. Using planning techniques similar to those they had learned through their college
sorority, Rose and Brooks received rave party reviews. By recovering the skills
they learned as sorority girls, the women were able to improve the post-graduate social lives of their urban tribe.
“Too
many women get caught up in outdated rules that stifle creativity and impede the sheer joy of a few friends sharing good food,
drink, and one another’s company. Our mission, as bona-fide sorority girls,
is to urge women everywhere to embrace this new paradigm for party planning,” stated Rose.
“Now
Cosmo’s readers can start learning how to party like a sorority girl,” Brooks exclaimed.
The Recovering Sorority Girls’ Guide
to a Year’s Worth of Perfect Parties
is a comprehensive party-planning guide that includes menus, decoration ideas, mood points
and additional recommendations for taking a party from great to first-rate. With
20 complete party plans, even the novice hostess will be prepared to offer her urban tribe a sensational social calendar that
spans New Year’s Eve to Easter to the Derby to Halloween
and everything in between. In addition, each party plan includes a timeline,
so hostesses know exactly when to execute each step of the party planning process.
