Pomegranate
Margarita
Pomegranate
has been popping up all over cocktail menus, and for good reason. It’s
healthy and offers a fresh, new hint of style that tastes hip and fun. Plus it
makes drinks a lovely shade of pink. We love how the flavor of pomegranate contrasts
with the salt of a margarita, and declare it a spring time must.
Combine
the following in a cocktail shaker with ice:
½
ounce Triple Sec
1
½ ounce white tequila
2
ounces pomegranate liqueur
1
ounce lime juice
Serve
in a salt-rimmed margarita glass.
Classic
Mojito
With
its seductive mix of lime and mint, the humble mojito announces the arrival of strappy sandal season. While making requires a little extra effort, it’s worth it.
First,
make a batch of simple syrup by combining equal parts of sugar and water in a pot. Heat
to just before boiling, so that all of the sugar is dissolved. Let cool and then
store in the refrigerator until needed.
Place
8 fresh mint leaves, four wedges of lime, and one tablespoon of simple syrup in a tall glass.
Use a wooden spoon to muddle these ingredients. Muddling will extract
the flavor of the mint and lime without tearing the mint leaves. Add two ounces
of white rum and top with club soda (about two ounces). Garnish with a wedge
of lime or sugar cane.
