WASHINGTON, DC - The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls, though its founders, Kristina “Morgan” Rose and Deandra “Brooksie” Brooks completed their first philanthropy project last week.  In partnership with Arlington Public Schools, the Society of Recovering Sorority Girls managed “Project Cinderella” a formal dress donation drive.

“We are so pleased with how “Project Cinderella” came together,” stated Morgan.  “But without the support of Arlington Public Schools and an absolutely incredible social worker named Donalee Rooks, it never would have happened.”

Project Cinderella, a formal dress donation drive, officially ended at 3 PM on Thursday, May 20 when Arlington Public Schools hosted “Formals for Five” at the Arlington Career Center.  Students throughout the district had the opportunity to shop for a formal dress and purchase it by making a $5 donation to the school district’s In Support of Children Fund.

“Watching the girls’ faces light up when they found the dress that made them look like a princess made me want to cry,” recalled Brooksie.  “I truly felt like I was a fairy godmother.”

The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls collected 62 dresses.  Approximately 70 students attended “Formals for Five” and $170 was raised for Arlington County Schools In Support of Children Fund.

“It may not sound like much, but it’s a solid start.  Arlington County Schools wants to do it again next year, and we are ready for the challenge,” concluded Morgan.
