Tuesday, departure day, aka Airport Bar Tuesday

After fleeing our day jobs and the city, we arrived at Baltimore Washington Airport. Getting to the airport was a breeze; getting out of the long term parking lot to the terminal was a different story. But, our paranoid desire to get to the airport a full four hours before our International flight paid off. As soon as we stepped into the terminal, we saw the rest of our party, Carie and Dave, Morgan’s friends from high school who had eagerly signed on for the Iceland Saga out of pure visionary instinct. We checked in as soon as the Icelandair desk opened and literally walked through the security checkpoint. Things seemed just too easy.

Since we had plenty of time to spare, we decided to have a few beers while waiting for our departure. Well into beer #3, we started to notice the skies getting dark. Soon, boarding time had come and gone with no information about the status of our flight. Naturally, we had another beer, effectively closing down the beer stand and continued to wait until about an hour after our scheduled departure time. Finally, we were able to board.

Having had several beers, Brooksie immediately performed her pre-bedtime beauty routine and hunkered down with a travel pillow, pashmina/blankey and eye mask to sleep through the entire flight. Morgan perused the duty free catalog and then upon learning that both the inflight movie and the inflight meal were relics from the 1970s (who eats Chicken Cordon Bleu anymore?) began her jet lag prevention nap.
