WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Society of Recovering Sorority Girls awarded the American League of Lobbyists with its ‘Platinum
Tiara Award for Philanthropic Service’ in recognition of its Capitol PurSuit Drive. This drive
seeks to collect gently used business attire for low-income job applicants. Clothing
and accessories will be collected in the foyer of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
“To be eligible for this award, organizations and individuals must demonstrate
the Society of Recovering Sorority Girls’ philanthropic philosophy,” explained Kristina “Morgan” Rose.
The
Society of Recovering Sorority Girls recognizes that historically, sorority girls have been described as “women of privilege.” While that description was accurate 100 years ago, when sororities were being founded
at female institutions of higher learning, the Society further believes this trait has evolved into a new meaning. Many Recovering
Sorority Girls have worked hard to complete their degrees and continue to work hard in and outside the home. As a result,
the Society of Recovering Sorority Girls’ philanthropic philosophy seeks to encourage women to attain the privilege
of higher education and greater independence, allowing them to live life to its fullest.
“They say ‘clothes make
the man,’ and that’s because a great outfit can give you the self confidence boost you need to nail a job interview,”
added Deandra “Brooksie” Brooksie.
“We hope the Capitol PurSuit Drive is a huge success and allows
a new generation of women to become today’s women of privilege,” concluded Kristina “Morgan” Rose.
###
The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls is an elite organization devoted
to a life less ordinary. Its founders, Kristina "Morgan" Rose and Deandra "Brooksie" Brooks firmly believe in applying many
of the principles of collegiate Greek life to improve the leisure activities of young professionals everywhere.
